Doveland High School is an international, co-educational, day-boarding school, offering a well-rounded academic experience in a nurturing environment. As part of our holistic approach to student welfare, school feeding is compulsory for all students.

We operate a blended Nigerian-British curriculum, designed to develop global-minded learners while ensuring they meet national academic standards.

Academic Structure

Our school is structured into two main streams:

1. Key Stage 3 (KS3):

Covers Years 7 to 9 (equivalent to JS1 to JS3).

At the end of Year 9, students are required to sit for the following examinations:

Cambridge Checkpoint – to assess mastery of the British curriculum

National Examination Council (NECO) Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Education Resource Centre (ERC) Examination – to assess mastery of the Nigerian curriculum

2. Key Stage 4 (KS4):

Covers Years 10 to 12 (equivalent to SS1 to SS3).

At the end of Year 12, students must sit for:

Cambridge IGCSE – to assess their mastery of the British curriculum

West African Examinations Council (WAEC) SSCE

National Examination Council (NECO) SSCE

These examinations are compulsory and form the criteria for graduation, after which students are awarded the Doveland High School Diploma Certificate.

Understanding the IGCSE

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an internationally recognized qualification for students aged 14 to 16. At Doveland High School, we offer the IGCSE through the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) examination board.

Its widespread credibility and recognition make IGCSE accepted by universities and employers both in Nigeria and internationally.

All students in Key Stage 4 (Years 10–12) are required to register and sit for the IGCSE examinations in Year 12, alongside their Nigerian SSCE (WAEC & NECO).

The IGCSE registration fee covers five subjects, selected according to each student’s academic pathway. However, students who wish to take additional subjects are permitted to do so, but this attracts an extra cost.

Why IGCSE Matters – Key Advantages

Global Recognition: Widely accepted by universities and employers across the world.

Conceptual Understanding: Encourages deep understanding rather than rote memorization.

Real-World Relevance: Emphasizes communication, application, and practical skills.

Critical Thinking & Creativity: Cultivates analytical, inquiry-based learning skills and global perspectives.
